KEM JOINS CHARLIE WILSON ON 28-CITY ARENA TOUR, KICKING OFF TONIGHT IN CLEVELAND

U.S. Run Includes March 1 Show At Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena,

March 5 Concert At Barclays Center In Brooklyn And

March 25 & 26 Shows At Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre

“Nobody” Is Second No. 1 Hit From KEM’s Promise To Love Album

On Top Urban AC Radio Chart

Three-time GRAMMY®-nominated artist KEM – who currently tops the Urban AC radio chart with his newest single “Nobody” – will be the special guest on R&B legend Charlie Wilson’s “Forever Charlie” tour, which kicks off tonight at Wolstein Center in Cleveland, OH. The U.S. arena run, which also features Joe Thomas, will include concerts at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena (February 20), Joe Louis Arena in Detroit (March 1) and Barclays Center in Brooklyn (March 5). The West Coast leg begins with a two-night stand at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles (March 25 & 26). See below for itinerary.

KEM’s galvanizing live performances have captivated audiences for years, catapulting him into the ranks as one of music’s top touring acts. Fans can expect to hear classics from throughout KEM’s career, including his new GRAMMY®-nominated chart-topper, “Nobody,” which took the No. 1 spot on the Urban AC radio chart earlier this week, and “It’s You,” which spent five weeks atop the same chart. Both hits are from KEM’s latest album, Promise to Love, which debuted at No. 1 on the R&B Albums chart and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 3.

“KEM is the epitome of class, style and musical brilliance that is needed in today’s business,” said Azim Rashid, Sr. Vice President, Promotions for Capitol Music Group/Motown Records. “My team and I are proud to represent his talent and brand and helping him achieve the highest honors is a privilege. We salute him and look forward to continued success with KEM and his team.”

“‘Promise To Love’ is packed with the type of candlelit R&B serenades that the Nashville-born, Detroit-bred singer has built his career on….The music feels timeless – much of it could have been released 20, 30, even 40 years ago – but it still pulses with urgency,” said the Houston Chronicle. SoulTracks.com noted, “Sensuality, spirituality and homespun wisdom…delivered atop elegant ballads and meticulous, mid-tempo grooves: KEM’s signature style has…endeared him to fans of ‘grown and sexy’ R&B.”

The internationally renowned R&B singer/songwriter released his first album, Kemistry on his own Kemistry Records label in 2001. After the independent release sold upwards of 15,000 units, KEM was signed by Motown. The label re-released Kemistry, which was subsequently certified Gold. His first hit, “Love Calls” rocketed to No. 1 on the Urban Adult Contemporary charts, and continues to be played on R&B radio stations to this day. KEM Album II followed in May 2005. Now certified Platinum, it contained the No. 1 hit “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” which was Billboard’s Top Adult R&B Single of the Year. Intimacy, KEM’s third studio album, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in August 2010 and went Gold. The No. 1 single “Why Would You Stay” received two GRAMMY nominations. His 2012 holiday album, What Christmas Means, was released in October 2012 and went on to become the #3 highest-selling Urban Christmas record in one season. In 2013, he wrote and recorded a duet with Ronald Isley entitled “My Favorite Thing,” which was released as the second single from Isley’s CD This Song Is For You and also appears on Promise to Love. KEM made his acting debut in the 2012 film Sparkle, starring Jordin Sparks and the late Whitney Houston. Several of his songs have also been featured in films.
