(New York, NY) – Kai Exos (pronounced ex-ös) is set to independently release “Telegraph,” the title track from his debut LP Telegraph. Blending influences from Motown-era soul, early southern jazz and late 1970’s lo-fi rock, Kai is gaining positive adulation alongside a fastly growing social media following for Vigilante, the first track off Telegraph: “Sporting silky smooth pipes, [he] definitely possesses the instrument to be a star,” notes Brent Faulkner in a recent review.

Kai collaborated on Telegraph with an award-winning team of Canadian producers and musicians, who are best known for working on Ziggy Marley’s Dragonfly. Telegraph is set for a June 10th release. The title track’s artwork was borne of a collaboration by renowned illustrator and friend, Eduardo Bertone in Madrid.

“I wrote this after a couple years of having a friend who couldn’t seem to reconcile himself,” says the artist of the song’s origin. He adds, “Listening to the final masters on this record, the same friend interrupted a 2 A.M. listening session — calling me from his fifth bout in prison.” As a result, the record is described as “an open letter on complacency”.

The reflective nature of Telegraph is indicative of the honesty in the crafted lyrics of Kai’s forthcoming Telegraph release. The artist is occasionally caught off-guard by this admitted earnestness, “Sometimes I forget that I’ll have to actually sing the songs I’m writing.”

With a background in classical piano and vocal-heavy gospel music absorbed from his Baptist church upbringing, Kai realized his knack for writing heartfelt lyrics when a grade school teacher discovered his poetry in a misplaced notebook and encouraged him to publish at an early age.

Buzznet has heralded Kai Exos as an artist who, “stands out from the masses.” This past April, Kaiembarked on a mini-tour hitting intimate venues in L.A., London and Berlin; playing to packed houses in Tokyo and Ireland, in support of Telegraph.

Kai Exos’ next U.S. appearance is in L.A. at Room 5 on Wednesday, May 20th 2014 at 8PM and House Of Blues on May 24th at 10:30PM
