JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF TAMPA BAY PREPARES TO BUILD NEW CAPSTONE FACILITY

Junior Achievement Finance Park to Open Fall, 2017

Tampa Bay, FL — Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay is revealing its plans for the construction of Junior Achievement Finance Park, a new capstone facility which is scheduled to open in the Fall of this year. Building and site renderings of the new facility have been prepared by FleischmanGarcia Architects.

As Phase I of the capital campaign nears its goal of $4.6 million, ground breaking will be scheduled soon by EWI Construction.  “Junior Achievement Finance Park will be the most innovative and far-reaching program for youth financial education in Tampa Bay and will impact 8th grade students,” shares Richard George, President of JA Tampa Bay.

The new facility will be located adjacent to the existing Junior Achievement Center presented by the Bill Poe Family which opened in 2005 and is the home of JA BizTown, presented by Pam & Les Muma, which is currently a 5th grade curriculum. This 18,000 square feet state-of-the-art facility is located in the University Community Development Area. The location, a Florida Enterprise Zone on Hillsborough County Public School property, includes Florida tax credits for qualified investors. SunTrust Foundation provided the original $1.7 million grant, kicking off the capital campaign. Richard George adds, “With the support of our driving force partner, Hillsborough County Public Schools, Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay is taking this one step further providing 8th grade students the opportunity to not only learn about finances and careers, but for one day to transform into adults, becoming a leader in his or her household and town.”
