Los Angeles – Nov. 23, 2015 – HDNET MOVIES presents a fully loaded lineup of box office hits and cinema classics, airing in primetime all December long. The month kicks off with “A Royal Evening” on Sunday, December 6 at 7:15pE, starring Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth the First during the troubled early days of her Monarchy, in the acclaimed historical drama ELIZABETH, with Geoffrey Rush and Christopher Eccleston. And Blanchett’s aging Queen fends off Spanish invaders and assassination attempts in the 2007 follow-up ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE, with Geoffrey Rush, Clive Owen and Eddie Redmayne, at 9:30pE.

HDNET MOVIES takes center stage with an evening of classic musicals in the “Stage To Screen” block on Sunday, December 20, at 3pE. The lineup opens with the iconic Barbara Streisand as a New York City matchmaker who sets her sights on eligible bachelor Walter Matthau in Gene Kelly’s 1969 romance HELLO, DOLLY! The Rodgers and Hammerstein Western OKLAHOMA! follows, starring Gordon MacRae and Gene Nelson as cowboys fighting for the hearts of Gloria Grahame and Shirley Jones, at 5:30pE. And song-and-dance starlet Mitzi Gaynor shines as a nurse who falls for guarded Frenchman Rossano Brazzi in the 1958 WWII drama SOUTH PACIFIC, at 8pE.

And HDNET MOVIES puts the spotlight on some of cinema’s most epic adventures in the “From Zeroes To Heroes” block on Sunday, December 27. The day begins with Kyle MacLachlan as a man who uses the resources of a sand planet to take revenge against his father’s enemies in David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s DUNE, with Patrick Stewart, Max Von Sydow, Sting, and Virgina Madsen, at 5:45pE. The intergalactic thrills continue at 8:05pE, with Sam J. Jones as a football hero recruited to save the world from villainous Emperor Max Von Sydow in the 1980 favorite FLASH GORDON. Then, immortal swordsman Christopher Lambert must out-duel bloodthirsty barbarian Sean Connery to claim the “Prize” in HIGHLANDER at 10pE. The night comes to a close at 12aE, with Kurt Russell as a fast-talking trucker who uncovers a mystical underworld ruled by the evil sorcerer Lo Pan in the John Carpenter cult classic BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, with Kim Cattrall and James Hong.
