GRAMMY®-NOMINATED SAXOPHONIST DAVE KOZ FEATURED ON FOO FIGHTERS’ “LA DEE DA” FROM UPCOMING ALBUM, CONCRETE AND GOLD

At the request of longtime friend Dave Grohl, saxophonist Dave Koz recently joined Foo Fighters in the studio during the sessions for their forthcoming album, Concrete and Gold. Koz, a nine-time GRAMMY® nominee, plays saxophone on the track “La Dee Da.”
Dave Koz recalls, “Knowing Dave for years, I was hoping one day the call would come…and then out of the blue last March, there was the text from Grohl: ‘Don’t you think it’s time you played on a Foo’s record?’ I just about lost it! Being in the studio with the whole band and Greg Kurstin, the producer, was so completely creative and insanely fun. I brought every sax I have and we just experimented for hours…doing solos on different horns and then layering colors in the track combining the saxes with existing guitar, bass and keyboard parts. I was pretty nervous, but Dave, Taylor and the rest of the band made me feel so comfortable and welcome.
“It was one of the most creatively-nurturing experiences of my professional life…and then listening to the whole album with Dave and Greg and hearing this new direction literally burst out of the speakers–it was beyond thrilling. And to my knowledge, this is the first time the Foo’s have had sax on one of their albums. So, I’m deeply honored–not just because these guys are one of my all-time favorite bands, but because they are some of the most wonderful human beings on the planet. An unforgettable experience, for sure. Now I’m just waiting for the text to join the band!! Ha-ha.”
