GABRIELA TAGLIAVINI TAPPED TO DIRECT COMEDY FEATURE

“HOW TO BREAK UP WITH YOUR DOUCHEBAG”

 

It was announced today that award-winning Director Gabriela Tagliavini will direct the comedy “How to Break Up with Your Douchebag” (aka “Amanda – The Break Up Planner”) Traziende Films.

 

A controversial comedy in the vein of “Bridesmaids” and “Trainwreck,” “How to Break Up with Your Douchebag” is about a woman who makes a living breaking up couples and takes on the job of breaking up her sister with her Douchebag boyfriend. The screenplay was written by Tagliavini and Ricardo Alvarez Canales.

 

Starring in the film are Mariana TrevinÞo (Netflix’s “Club de Cuervos”), Camila Sodi (“Bufalo de la Noche,” “Niñas Mal”), Sebastian Zurita (lead in “Ciudadano Buelna,” “Corazon Salvaje”) and Christopher Uckerman (lead in FOX’s “K-Dabra and a member of the famous band RBD).

 

Principal photography will commence later this month in Mexico City.

 

Televisa’s Videocine has already acquired distribution rights for Mexico and is committing to a wide release of the film in 2017.

 

Gabriela Tagliavini is an award winning writer/director who was nominated for two Imagen Awards (US Latino Oscars, airs on PBS) for Best Director and Best Picture of the year. “Douchebag” will be the sixth film Tagliavi has directed.

 

Tagliavini previously directed Disney’s hit comedy “Ladies’ Night,” which was #1 in the Mexican box-office in 2004 and won three MTV Latin Movie Awards, as well as “Without Men” staring Eva Longoria and Christian Slater and “Border Run” staring Sharon Stone.

 

Her TV film, the Viacom/VH1/MTV/Maverick feature “30 Days Until I’m Famous,” premiered on VH1 and stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Mindy Sterling, Udo Kier and Carmen Electra and was executive-produced by Madonna.

 

For her directorial debut, “The Woman Every Man Wants” (aka “Perfect Lover”), Tagliavinio won the Best Director award at 3 international film festivals including the New York Independent and Munich Film Festivals in 2001.

 

She has also adapted the best-selling novel “The Anatomist” for HBO Films and the screenplay for “Cantinflas” (a biopic about the Mexican comedian-thesp) co-produced by former NBC Entertainment topper Ben Silverman. In 2011, Gabriela Tagliavini received the Outstading Achivement Award from LEMI.

 

Producer Leonardo Zimbron worked for Warner Brother and produced several box-office hits such as  “Nosotros los Nobles” and together with producing partner Monica Vargas Celis, they have produced Netflix’s “Club de Cuervos.” Their company, Traziende Film has 15 years experience making films.
