“FOTO ART : ”Creating Forever Memories” By Sharon Marantz Walsh

You may ask what this is all about and what inspired this idea? As a young woman in Paris, I always wanted to paint. I am a visual person, and living abroad, every street corner, every face, every dog sitting at the feet of its master in a small cafe, was a painting waiting to happen, I loved working with acrylics: mixing color, building textures, working with knives, brushes and especially with my fingers.

As time passed and my life bought me back to New York, where I am now settled, my painting stopped. I no longer had the luxury of space or time. However, just as circumstances change, I found that I too must adjust to recapture that part of my soul that had been lost. At the suggestion of my cousin, a well known international artist, a new idea was born! Abandoning my paints, tools and canvas… I discovered the world of Photo Art, with apps, iPad and yes, some degree of painting with my fingers. I have named my new endeavor FOTO ART: “Creating Forever Memories.” You will see samples in this newsletter and in newsletters to come.

FOTO ART is applicable to canvas, note cards, holiday cards, calling cards and is even being used by some as a new banner for their social media, websites etc. It’s such FUN….. and as you can see, this techniques makes the world a brighter place!

Like all artists, I had my moments of self doubt and I questioned my talent. However, I persisted and soon my canvases took on a unique style and personality. Friends and family supported me and soon, somewhat to my surprise, my paintings were in homes and offices in NYC, LA, Paris and New Orleans.
