Take the Achieve 100 Challenge!
Dear Donn,

What can you achieve in 100 days or less? The Florida Center for Early Childhood is asking supporters like YOU to take the “Achieve 100 Challenge,” completing 100 of an activity of your choosing to help raise money for children and families in need!

Ask family, friends, or co-workers to donate in support of your challenge – and don’t forget to document your journey – whether it’s running 100 miles, reading 100 books or trying 100 new recipes. Sharing your compelling story or supporting the efforts of other Achievers will help us reach our goal of $100,000 by December 31!

Save the date for Friday, December 4, 2020, when the most successful and creative challenges will be highlighted during our virtual Winter Benefit! You will be able to watch the program on our Facebook page, YouTube channel and other networks.

Our goal of $100,000 will provide therapies and support for children whose needs have intensified during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We hope you will find it in your heart to take the challenge or make a contribution for children and families in need! Click the button below for details.

Congratulations to Dr. Kristie Skoglund, our new Chief Executive Officer!
We are pleased to announce that our Board of Directors has selected Dr. Kristie Skoglund, Chief Operating Officer, to lead the agency.

She will replace longtime Chief Executive Officer Kathryn Shea, who is retiring next month.

Skoglund has worked at The Florida Center for more than 20 years, climbing the ranks from mental health counselor to ‘early childhood expert’ during her tenure. She has a master’s degree in counseling and psychology and a doctorate degree in counseling. She is active in many community groups and recently completed the Gulf Coast Leadership Institute of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. She looks forward to this exciting new role!

You’re Invited to a SURPRISE Farewell
Parade for Kathryn Shea
We are holding a surprise farewell parade for Kathryn Shea on her last day before retirement! Please take the time to stop by our Sarasota campus between 12-1 pm on Friday, Sept. 11.

Feel free to create signs with special messages for Kathryn, or just a “honk and wave”!

Kathryn has been an advocate for young children with vulnerabilities for the last 35 years. She was instrumental in working with local and state government to build sustainable systems to care for children with mental health and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

While Kathryn will continue to advocate for local children, let us give her a supportive send-off as she starts a new chapter. She will love seeing friends and colleagues, so we hope to see you there!

Don’t forget, it’s a surprise!
