Faith Lutheran Church Presents

“The King of Instruments & the Instrument of Kings:

A Musical Tribute”

Saturday, October 25, 7 p.m. § Faith Lutheran Church

Trumpeter Chuck Seipp is joined by organist Mary Mozelle, pianist Joseph Holt, and trumpet soloist Neal Seipp in a rousing celebration of music composed for the pipe organ and trumpet.

(Sarasota, FL) Faith Lutheran Church presents a concert celebrating the regal sounds of the pipe organ and the trumpet, with former U.S. Army Band trumpeter Chuck Seipp, concert organist Mary Mozelle, retired U.S. Army Chorus pianist Joseph Holt, and guest trumpeter Neal Seipp, Saturday, October 25, 7 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, 7750 Beneva Road, Sarasota. The concert features works written for organ and trumpet by George Frideric Handel, Georg Philipp Telemann, Vaughan Williams, John Philip Sousa, Jean-Joseph Mouret, and others. The performance will also include a multimedia tribute to veterans. Tickets are $15 and available online at www.faithsarasota.com or during business hours at Faith Lutheran Church: 941-924-4664.

Dr. Joseph Holt, director of music at Faith Lutheran Church and artistic director of Gloria Musicae, says he’s thrilled that area audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of this elite group of musicians performing music that “honors two members of the royal family of musical instruments—the organ and the trumpet.” Holt, who retired to Sarasota after serving more than 20 years as principal pianist with The United States Army Chorus, will accompany the musicians on piano.

Trumpeter Chuck Seipp retired from The United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” in 2012, after an illustrious 32-year career as the band’s group leader and senior soloist. Seipp has performed in national, presidential and world events, as well as at concerts and special events in Washington D.C., including wreath-laying ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. He has also marketed his own brass arrangements, many of which have been performed and recorded by the Canadian Brass quintet, the U.S. Army Brass Quintet and other groups around the world. In 2005, Seipp collaborated with organist Mary Mozelle on “The Wedding Book,” a recording of his own arrangements of ceremonial music for trumpet and organ, which has since become a standard resource for organists and trumpeters around the world.

Mary Mozelle is a distinguished concert organist, harpsichordist and recording artist. As a solo recitalist she has appeared throughout the U.S. and in the cathedrals of Great Britain, including St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. She has appeared with such major orchestras as the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington Chamber Symphony and the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed for conductors Leonard Slatkin, Mstislav Rostropovich and Robert Shaw. Mozelle is also widely recognized for the creation and performance of her entertaining and educational musical program “The Sights and Sounds of the Pipe Organ.”

Guest trumpet soloist Neal Seipp is professor emeritus of music at Central Missouri State University. He has been a featured trumpet soloist on two occasions with the U.S. Army Band on the steps of the Capital building in Washington, D.C.

In addition to the stirring music, Holt adds that the program will include a multimedia tribute to veterans and the military that includes a tour of Washington, D.C., and its monuments and memorials.
