EARLY LEARNING COALITION OF MANATEE COUNTY ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBER APPOINTMENTS
Palmetto, Florida, October 6th, 2017 – The Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Manatee County, Inc. is delighted to announce the appointment of three new Board members – Reverend Nathan Speck-Ewer, Dr. April Fleming and Marjani Jones.
Paul Sharff, CEO, commented: “We would like to extend a warm welcome to our three new Board members. I would like to personally thank them for agreeing to join what is already an extremely hard working and dedicated Board, who do so much to enhance the lives of the children in our local community.”
 
BACKGROUND
 
Marjani Jones: Faith-based Provider Representative
Marjani Jones is a Speech & Language Pathologist at Greenbriar Rehab & Nursing, and she also serves on the Board of Joy Learning & Development Academy. During her career, she has worked as speech therapist in both Hillsborough and Manatee Counties. Her dedication to youth is evidenced by her service in youth ministries for over 30 years. Ms. Jones has also worked with special needs persons for 4 years at Easter Seals.
Dr. April Fleming: Florida College System Designee
Dr. Fleming joined the Board of Directors as a legislatively required appointee. She currently serves as the Director of Education Programs for the State College of Florida. Other experiences she brings to the Board with her are those gained from her service on the Professional Development, Training and Quality Committee at ELC Sarasota. Dr. Fleming has over 17 years of experience in education, from Head Start to post-secondary education, and strongly believes education is the key to success, and must begin early in a child’s life
Reverend Nathan Speck-Ewer: Private Sector Board Member
Nathan Speck-Ewer is an educator who teaches at AMIkids, a new alternative school for middle school boys in Manatee County who are at the highest risk of drop out and incarceration. An ordained Episcopal priest, he previously taught and served as Chaplain of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School. He is married to April Speck-Ewer and together they have two children, Eva and Alden.
