(Sarasota, FL) —Due to popular demand, FST announces the extension of its first Winter Cabaret hit show, Soul Mates: A Journey to Hitsville. The production now runs through February 14, 2016 in the John C. Court Cabaret. Subscriptions for all three Cabaret shows can be purchased for as little as $39. Single tickets range from $30-$36. Tickets may be purchased online at FloridaStudioTheatre.org, by phone at (941) 366-9000, or by visiting the Box Office.

The critics have raved over this energetic evening of soulful song and dance. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune says the show is “Invigorating” with “Infectious sound.” The Observer describes it as “High-level talent” with “Crisp vocal harmonies.” Total Theater says it’s “One of the most technically elaborate FST Cabaret shows to date.” Audiences agree calling it, “A wonderful show,” “Very good,” and “Fabulous.”

It’s the greatest memories and music of the sound that changed America forever. Motown had an irresistible force of social change through generations by groups such as the Temptations, The Jackson 5, The Commodores, and more. Featuring songs such as: “My Girl,” “ABC,” “I’ll Be There,” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

Cast member Ryan Connolly shares his excitement to continue performing for Sarasota audiences stating, “It’s fantastic to be a part of a show that crosses generational lines and celebrates the incomparable music of Motown. This music defined an era and we get to show how important it still is to so many today. This music was made by the best to ever record music and we have such respect and reverence for them. We do our best to pay homage to them by putting our hearts into telling this story of how it changed the lives of four friends from Kansas. It’s very exciting that we’ll get the privilege of telling that story and singing these amazing, indelible songs just a little longer at FST.”

Fellow crooner and crew member Andrew Mauney agrees stating,” This show has been a blast to do and the audience only makes it that much more fun! The intimate Court Cabaret really makes feeding off the audience’s energy so easy. I’m looking forward to an extra week at Hitsville!”

Soul Mates: A Journey to Hitsville must close on February 14, 2016. Subscriptions for all three Cabaret shows can be purchased for as little as $39. Single tickets range from $30-$36. Subscriptions and single tickets may be purchased online at FloridaStudioTheatre.org, by phone at (941) 366-9000 or by visiting the Box Office.

About Florida Studio Theatre

Known as Sarasota’s Contemporary Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre was founded in 1973 by Jon Spelman. Starting out as a small touring company, FST traveled to places such as migrant camps and prisons. The company then acquired the former Woman’s Club building, becoming the first permanent venue. Shortly after Producing Artistic Director Richard Hopkins arrived, the building was purchased and renamed The Keating Theatre. In the years that followed, Florida Studio Theatre established itself as a major force in American Theatre, presenting contemporary theatre in its five theatre venues: the Keating Theatre, the Gompertz Theatre, the Parisian style Goldstein Cabaret and John C. Court Cabaret, and Bowne’s Lab Theatre.

Even with its growth, Florida Studio Theatre remains firmly committed to making the arts accessible and affordable to a broad-based audience.  FST develops theatre that speaks to our living, evolving, and dynamically changing world.  As FST grows and expands, it continues to provide audiences with challenging, contemporary drama and innovative programs.
