DANIEL HO WITH WARMEST ALOHA

FEATURES HĀLAU KEALII O NĀLANI

AND ARCADIA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Arcadia High School, (AHS), Orchestra students will accompany six-time GRAMMY award winner Daniel Ho in concert at the Arcadia Performing Arts Center on June 4, 2016. The evening will feature hula by Keali’I Ceballos and Hālau Keali’I O Nālani.

This is a special performance that has been eight years in the making,” said Ho, Original songs paired with hula and symphonic grandeur.” Of the students, Ho said, They are a very talented group and they will add so much to the evening.”

On a break during a May 29 rehearsal, students said they were excited to take part in the concert. They are learning how to play along with singers for the first time. And they are adapting to performing without a conductor by really listening to the music and one another.

Arcadia High School Orchestra students performing with Daniel Ho under the direction of AHS Orchestra Director Tom Forbes are:  Evan Chuu, Clarice Kwan, Jannell Lo, Samuel Cui, Vivan Chou, Cristie Huang and Kevin Jou on violins; Simon Sam, Michelle Hu and Brian Law on viola; Danna Xue, Annie Ro and Christina Wang on cello; Nancy Ye on string bass. Daniel Ho wrote an accompaniment just for them, and a solo cello part for Danna Xue.

Daniel Ho and his band will bring the audience a feel-good concert of original, contemporary Hawaiian music along with new choreographies by beloved kuma hula, Keali’i Ceballos. The evening will also feature a set by Daniel’s jazz trio, reuniting them officially as the band Kilauea, for the first time since 1997.

Tickets, available online by visiting www.arcadiapaf.org, are $29.50 – $69.50. The theatre is located at 188 Campus Drive, Arcadia, CA 91007. For more information, please call 626.821.1781.
