“There is a glut of artists trying to get in on the action and catch a ride on the merging trend train of hip-hop and dance music. But only a few are firing off heat that can compete with what Dan Farber is capable of.” – Insomniac

After unveiling his “Gangsta Shit” single in late July, acclaimed bass music aficionado Dan Farber is back flexxin’ his hip-hop production prowess with his G-House concept opus, the Gangsta Shit EP, set for release Friday, September 11th. A departure from Farber’s previous Dim Mak release, the exotic trap-styled Middle Eastern Jungle EP, this new 4-track offering debuts a smoother, G-Funk inspired side of the Israeli producer than we’ve yet experienced.

Dan Farber’s innate ability to texturize his tracks with thick, groove-oriented basslines and infectious leads no doubt comes from his genuine love for the rap game. Drawing inspiration from West Coast G-Funk, the Gangsta Shit EP is an assemblage of gritty synths carefully layered with hip-hop one-liners and classic gangsta rap sound design.

Dan Farber’s auspicious start in the music industry began at 18 years old when he was signed to Israeli hip-hop imprint TACT Records as the in-house producer. After spending five years there perfecting his studio skills, he was able to expertly build up his SoundCloud following via genre-bending remixes of records from acts including Yellow ClawLykke Li and Leftside. Farber’s original tracks are similarly well-received, with three having reached the top ten on Beatport’s Hip-Hop chart. Well respected for his dexterity behind the boards, Farber’s continuous support from Borgore and his rising prominence on SoundCloud (“Bootyzilla” has over 1 million plays, while “Dolphin Attack” has racked up over 500k plays) is certainly due to his capacity to effortlessly produce some of the best sounding material in electronic dance music today.
