Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s 10th Anniversary Season ends with special free Community Celebration

Free performances by members of The Cleveland Orchestra at Miami-Dade Public Library System locations across the entire county on Saturday, March 19

Miami, FL – As part of the closing events for its Tenth Anniversary Season, Cleveland Orchestra Miami, in collaboration with the Miami-Dade Public Library System and Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, announces a series of free performances on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Musicians of The Cleveland Orchestra will perform a variety of styles and types of musical works, playing in duos, trios, quartets, and other ensembles. These free performances are offered at libraries across the county as part of Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s mission to share the joy of music with Miami-Dade, and as a musical thank you for the public’s support and interest in Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s ongoing work to serve the community.

A list of branch libraries hosting performances is included below and is available online at www.clevelandorchestramiami.com and www.mdpls.org. No tickets are required; these library performances are free and open to the public at each location. Families are encouraged to attend.

“In the decade since I first became part of this incredible venture, I have had the pleasure of watching Cleveland Orchestra Miami grow and flourish with the support of my fellow Miamians, bringing extraordinary musical performances and exceptional educational experiences to our hometown each season,” says Montserrat Balseiro, Cleveland Orchestra Miami Managing Director. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to share more music across all of Miami-Dade on this special day.”

“I am delighted that the Miami-Dade Public Library System is partnering with Cleveland Orchestra Miami to help celebrate 10 years of bringing exceptional musical performances to the community,” says Gia Arbogast, Miami-Dade Public Library System Director. “Libraries are the perfect venues for hosting art, music and cultural events that appeal to the diverse audience that makes up Miami-Dade County, and we are excited to once again connect the public with this enriching cultural experience.”

This special free Community Celebration and sharing of music coincides with the fourth and final week of concerts and musical programs presented by Cleveland Orchestra Miami during its Tenth Anniversary Season in 2015-16. The week also features concerts by The Cleveland Orchestra at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County on the evenings of March 17, 18, and 19. Included in those concerts is the world premiere of a newly-created orchestral work, commissioned by the Arsht Center and created especially for Miami as part of the Arsht Center’s own 10th anniversary season. (Tickets for Cleveland Orchestra concerts can be purchased through the Arsht Center Box Office.)  Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s 10th Anniversary season has also included concert weeks in November and January, a special gala concert with Renée Fleming, and Education Concerts at the Arsht Center for school children in Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS), as well as performances and coachings in MDCPS schools.
