For three weeks, Big Class held a writing workshop at the SoFAB Culinary Library. Elementary school students from schools around New Orleans wrote fiction, non-fiction, and poetry for an “Encyclopedia of Eats.” You can see them reading their work here. This is the part of The Kids Menu, a new web series from SoFAB Media which will showcase SoFAB’s many children’s programs.

For SoFAB Media’s new web series “Eating Heads,” we will be interviewing well known chefs from New Orleans and beyond and getting an inside look at how they approach cuisine. In our first episode, we talked to Ryan Hughes, chef and owner of Purloo Restaurant.

Just 2 Days Left to Support ROHO’s West Coast Cocktails: An Oral History
Our friends at the Regional Oral History Office (ROHO) of UC Berkeley’s The Bancroft Library are beginning a project on the legacy of the West Coast craft cocktail, which will feature long-form oral history interviews with influential bar owners, bartenders, craft spirit distillers, and cocktail historians.

This project seeks to document the life histories  of those who mix our drinks, run our bars, and distill our spirits. The interviews will be recorded on video, transcribed, and archived in The Bancroft Library and The Museum of the American Cocktail, and transcriptions and clips will be available on the ROHO and MOTAC websites. ROHO has just launched an Indidgogo Campaign to help fund the project, so please consider contributing what you can to this help this wonderful resource become a reality.
