BERKELEY REP ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR FOR ITS SCHOOL OF THEATRE

Education professional Rachel Hull to head the School of Theatre programming

April 25, 2016—Berkeley Rep announced today that it has named Rachel Hull as the new director for its School of Theatre. Hull previously spent 11 seasons as the director of education and community enrichment for the Dallas Theater Center where she managed all of the education and community programs, including the Project Discovery, winner of the 2013 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, given by First Lady Michelle Obama. At Berkeley Rep, Hull will oversee all of the School of Theatre’s programs, including the Teen Council and Berkeley Rep’s professional fellowship, docent, and staff development programs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rachel Hull to the Berkeley Rep family,” says Managing Director Susan Medak. “Her leadership experience, combined with her commitment to the arts and her ideas for the future of the School of Theatre, all made her our top choice. I know she will be an asset to the organization.”

“I am so honored to join the team at Berkeley Rep,” says Hull. “They are known for being leaders in the theatre world and have demonstrated a commitment to youth in the arts and engagment with learners on a variety of levels. I plan to carry on that tradition in my new role.”

Hull replaces Rachel Fink, Berkeley Rep’s former director of the School of Theatre, who now works as the managing director at Theatre Bay Area.
