BACKSTAGE AT THE PLAYERS PRESENTS “DOUBT: A PARABLE”

Sarasota, FL – How do you handle your sneaking suspicions? Take matters into your own hands?  From April 14th – 24th, come see how Sister Aloysius handles hers as Backstage at The Players presents the Pulitzer Prize and Tony award winning play “Doubt: A Parable”. Written by John Patrick Shanley, this powerful and gripping play is set in a fictional church in 1964 and follows an ultra-strict nun’s intuition of a priest’s inappropriate behavior with her Catholic school’s first integrated student. The Bronx school principal takes matters into her own hands when she suspects Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students and is determined to seek the truth.

Directed by Elliott Raines, “Doubt: A Parable” is this season’s final installment of the popular Backstage at The Players subscription series at The Players Theatre. Backstage at The Players is dedicated to presenting cutting-edge, contemporary American plays in an intimate black box setting—to produce bold work by both new and established writers in an accessible way at affordable ticket prices.
