Fifth Annual YouthArts Fest 2014

SARASOTA, FL Jim Shirley, Executive Director of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, recently announced that the organization has hired Georgann Nugent as the new Event Director of YouthArts Fest, an annual event that showcases the region’s vast array of youth arts and cultural organizations with youth arts classes and services.

Georgann replaces Event Director Betty Morris, who produced the event since its inception in 2010 and remains active in the organization. The 5th annual celebration of youth arts is scheduled for March 22, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. located at Five Points Park on N. Pineapple Ave. in Downtown Sarasota.

As an Art Teacher for over 22 years and event producer for over 25 years, Georgann Nugent has volunteered her skills to YouthArts Fest for the past four years on the planning and implementation committee. Georgann has produced many “friend and fund” raising events for local organizations over the past 25 years including Arts Day/Arts Night, Girls Inc. Celebration Luncheon, Family Day for Embracing our Differences, and Groovin’ at the Grove for the Boys & Girls Clubs. Nugent believes we all need to invest our time and talents into our community.

This year’s YouthArts Fest is just days before the city election on March 25th including the 1 mill referendum for the Sarasota County School District. The 1-mill tax generates roughly $40 million annually funding multiple items, including 497 positions in our school district.
