Thursday, August 28

The Dan McMillion Big Band will accompany the Freshmen at the Friday night concert.

The “Sarasota Jazz Project” is a high energy 17 piece jazz ensemble comprised of some of the finest musicians on the West Coast of Florida. These talented all-stars play both original compositions and the standards, creatively arranged in a unique contemporary big band style. The Sarasota Jazz Project’s goal is to bring classic jazz tunes with fresh arrangements focusing on musicianship and unique arrangements. While respecting and performing music of the great big bands of the past, led by Ellington, Basie, Glen Miller and Benny Goodman, among others, the Sarasota Jazz Project also emphasizes the work of modern composers and arrangers, such as, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Quincy Jones and Gil Evans and the best of the current music arrangers in the world.  June Garber
June Garber is delighted to be back in Sarasota and singing with the Jazz Project Band. Whether singing with a symphony orchestra, a big band, a small jazz group or with a fabulous pianist in an intimate club setting, June always manages to connect with her audience.
