Calm Down, the dynamic debut EP from Australian producer and DJ Alison Wonderland has been released via Astralwerks and is available for purchase on iTunes. Narrated by pulsing synths and throbbing bass, the five-song collection properly introduces us to Alison’s signature production techniques and features the infectious #1 HypeM track “I Want U” and beat-laden new single “Cold.” Calm Down gives us a peek inside the captivating realm that is Alison Wonderland, “These songs are really personal to me, like I am revealing parts of my personal diary,” she says of the full-bodied EP. VICE’s Thump praises Calm Down, declaring the EP “Showcases Wonderland’s starlight soprano and propensity for heavy bass to delightful and addictive effect,” adding “each track is both club-ready and headphone-friendly—a rare feat for producers in 2014.”
Alison Wonderland brings an extensive musical background to her next-level productions and sets. The prodigious talent began her career as principal cellist in the Sydney Youth Orchestra and played bass in an indie rock band as a teen before discovering electronic music and teaching herself the art of production and DJing. Her tough, streetwise, of-the-moment sound has caught the ear of both young music fans and uber-tastemakers like Annie Mac and Diplo, who featured her DJ set on his BBC Radio 1 show. The Sydney-based artist has built a devoted following across her homeland; selling more than 10,000 tickets of her innovative Australian warehouse tour, dubbed the “Wonderland Warehouse Project,” as well as releasing cutting edge videos, and winning fans with her original productions and masterful skills behind the decks.
