How fast time flies… it’s been three years since Bloom’s inception of her popular Stevie Nicks, Carole King & Linda Ronstadt Songbook which has seen her performing to sold-out crowds throughout Australasia consistently, subsequently sidelining her opportunity to release original music. Now, the highly applauded Melbourne singer/songwriter is taking a breath to release her new single titled “A Minute”.

Whilst the precedence of constant touring has helped Bloom to blossom as a live performer, song writing has continued to sit on the back burner – until now. “I struggled to find quiet time to quiet my mind and to allow the song writing to come through,” Bloom says. “Though when it does, I’ve learnt to give the song its own freedom of letting it go where it wants to go and letting it be its own piece of magic without overthinking it.”

And through the clutter that was, emerged the single ‘A Minute’. “I wrote it at a time in my life where the world seemed so fast paced and I felt like my head was going to spin off. I found it hard to keep up with it all so I was definitely feeling overwhelmed, where being on the road made me lose concept of time: six months would feel like a week”. And, sure, it’s a song most can relate with.

In a world of Covid-19, which has dried up any opportunity of touring and performing live, it has effectively pushed Bloom in to a mandatory time of calm and reflection of those past three years. “I’ve learnt that I don’t need to be pushing myself to the limits of feeling like I’m running out of time and squeezing in so much to the point of burning out… I have learnt to find some balance.”

Like most songwriters, Bloom takes moments in her life to detail the premise of her songs.

“My last original EP was released in 2015, at a time I was dealing with a lot of loss in my life, so that EP was heavily themed around grief. I have since worked through that and ‘A Minute’ is a continuation of that ambient pop theme where you can listen to it and be in that moment with me, where time feels like it stops … for a minute.”

Bloom is a fiercely independent artist having crowd-funded $20,000 to help record, market and promote ‘A Minute’ as well as her second single due for release later in the year. This is Bloom’s second successful crowd-funding campaign proving that her fan base is extremely loyal and eager for some original Bloom music.

Bloom’s vocal prowess continues to set her in to a world all of her own, being likened to that of Adele, Lana Del Rey, Eva Cassidy and Tina Arena, to name a few. She is often invited to perform the Australian National Anthem at key sporting events which has included performing to a global Television audience at Perth’s Optus Stadium for the Cricket Australia Test with the Qantas Choir, The Sport Australia Hall of Fame Awards & Gala Dinner and The Bledisloe Cup.
