Get to know the multi-faceted Lenny Kravitz and be the first to hear tracks from his new album when he joins Anthony DeCurtis in conversation at 92Y on Friday, September 19 at 8 pm. Regarded as one of the preeminent rock musicians of our time, Lenny Kravitz has transcended genre, style, race and class into a 25-year musical career, one which revels in the rich influences of ’60s and ’70s soul, rock and funk. Strut, his tenth studio album, comes out on September 23.

As a musician Kravitz is a writer/producer/multi-instrumentalist and singer who has sold more than 38 million albums worldwide, and whose four consecutive Grammy®  wins for “Best Male Rock Vocal Performance” set the record for wins in that category. As an actor he’s appeared in such blockbuster films as The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Lee Daniels’ The Butler. Kravitz is also a style icon and one of the sexiest faces in rock and roll; the new Rizzoli book Lenny Kravitz – out on September 16 – is a visual celebration of this magnetic star with photos from such top photographers as Mark Seliger, Patrick Demarchelier, Ellen von Unwerth, Anton Corbijn and Jean Baptiste Mondino,

Following the talk, Kravitz will sign copies of the book, which will be available for sale.

Anthony DeCurtis is a contributing editor for Rolling Stone and a distinguished lecturer in the writing program at the University of Pennsylvania. He co-wrote Clive Davis’s autobiography, The Soundtrack of My Life, which was a New York Times bestseller. He is a Grammy Award winner, and he is currently writing a biography of Lou Reed.
