Managing Director Position Open

The Westcoast Black Theater Troupe (WBTT) is seeking a Managing Director. Our current CEO, who has been serving as our Managing Director, is retiring after a very successful 5-year tenure in which we have expanded our season and subscriber base, broadened our community support, and purchased our own theatre complex (2 buildings on 2 ½ acres). The company is financially strong and holds no debt.

This upcoming season, WBTT will be celebrating our 15th anniversary, and beginning a capital campaign for improving our new theatre complex!  WBTT has been called “a miracle” because we are a thriving black theatre company based in a predominantly white community which strongly supports the arts, and enjoys and appreciates the unique mission and purpose of WBTT. Sarasota, located on the west coast of Florida, a beautiful waterfront community, is a thriving community for the arts which includes the its own opera, orchestra, and ballet companies, along with several other professional and community theatres.  We love our arts! We are also an education center, being home to the Ringling College of Art and Design, New College of Florida, and the Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.

Working closely with our diverse Board of Directors and our Founder and Artistic Director, Mr. Nate Jacobs, the Managing Director is responsible for the oversight of all programmatic and fiscal matters, including fundraising, development, marketing, budget preparation, staff supervision, grant writing, and special events. Experience in theatre or arts management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, administrative, marketing and development experience, and the ability to maintain and seek community partnerships, are all items which are preferred. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of fundraising ability, demonstrated leadership, vision, strategic planning skills, and experience working with a volunteer board to realize institutional goals and objectives.

Qualifications:
Requirements include strong communication skills, at least five years of administrative experience, and proven fundraising abilities. Arts administration, non-profit administration, education administration experience and/or related degrees are preferred.
