Venice Theatre Education and Outreach Department announces open house and winter 2014 performance classes for children and adults

(Venice, FL) Venice Theatre seeks to share its Education and Outreach opportunities with as many families in the area as possible. It will hold an open house to assist families with new class registration and give them an opportunity to meet the teaching team.  The open house for the upcoming winter session will be in the theatre lobby at 140 W. Tampa Ave. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 from 10:30 – noon.

Registration by phone is already open for winter 2014 theatre classes. The semester includes classes for children and adults beginning the week of Jan. 19, 2015. Venice Theatre is proud of what parents say about their children’s experiences at the theatre. Examples of recent parent comments include: “Because of the work that you do, my son was able to experience something that has forever changed his life and the way he looks at things” and “I want to sincerely thank you for the positive role VT has played in my daughter’s life.”

All classes will participate in a MainStage spring showcase on April 11, 2015 with technical rehearsals on April 9 and 10. Specialty classes range from Musical Motion to The Yellow Boat.

For adults 18 and older, the theatre offers exciting classes taught by professionals in their fieldsClasses include Candace’s Improvisation: The basic tenet of Yes! and Peter Ivanov’s Scene Study.  A special offering this semester is Peter’s Theatre Appreciation class: That Show Changed My Life!  It explores the art, history and science of theatre as a fine art.  The first class on Jan. 17 from 1 – 2 p.m. is open to the public at no cost.

Venice Theatre also offers private lessons for students who are interested in one-on-one instruction in acting and/or musical theatre; and a customized program for Girl Scout and Boy Scout badges.

In addition to seasonal classes, Venice Theatre offers a unique Technical Theatre Apprenticeship Program (TTAP).  This is a career-track technical training program for students 16 years and older and is accredited by the Florida Department of Education.
