Venice Theatre announces auditions for next Generations musical
Brad Wages seeking performers of all ages for

James and the Giant Peach

Venice, FL, Feb. 15, 2016 – Auditions for Venice Theatre’s “Generations” production of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach will be held Saturday March 5 and Sunday March 6 at 2 p.m. at Venice Theatre located at 140 W. Tampa Ave. in Venice. A delightfully offbeat musical for the whole family to enjoy, James and the Giant Peach is based on the classic 1961 book by Roald Dahl. The fantasy story features a boy, his insect friends, and their journey across the ocean on a giant peach. With a wickedly tuneful score and a curiously quirky script, critics rave that James and The Giant Peach is a “masterpeach!”

The musical will be performed on Venice Theatre’s MainStage May 17 through May 22, 2016 including school-time performances on Wednesday, May 18 and Friday, May 20 at 11 a.m.

Director/Choreographer Brad Wages and his Music Director, Eli Schildkraut, ask that auditioners prepare a song, bring sheet music, and dress comfortably for a possible dance audition. Wages will be casting volunteer performers from age nine through adult for the following roles:

Ensemble – A variety of children, teens and adults.
Ladahlord – A strange, magical storyteller.

James – A lonely young boy who lacks confidence, but when given the right encouragement becomes resourceful and innovative.

Spiker and Sponge – James’ mean aunts.
Spider – A normal spider who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. She is warm and friendly to James.
Green Grasshopper – A wizened old grasshopper.
Centipede – An ornery centipede who hates humans, in part because Spiker and Sponge fumigated his family.
Ladybug – A motherly ladybug. Respectable and classy, she has a warm, caring heart.
Earthworm – An earthworm who is a bit of a scaredy-cat. He is neurotic and worried about everything, but is friendly and brave when called upon.
