TOO HOT TO HANDEL: THE JAZZ-GOSPEL MESSIAH | January 13-14, 2018

Celebrate the transformative power of music at the Auditorium Theatre with Too Hot to Handel: The Jazz-Gospel Messiah, taking place for the 13th consecutive year over Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend. Inspired by Dr. King’s message of “Beloved Community,” Too Hot brings Chicagoans together to witness “a contagiously joyous jazz, gospel, and blues treatment of George Frideric Handel’s famous 18th-century oratorio” (Chicago Reader). Clap along with acclaimed soloists Rodrick Dixon, Alfreda Burke, and Karen Marie Richardson, joined by legendary pianist Alvin Waddles, a choir of over 100 members, an ensemble orchestra, and a world-class jazz combo in what the Chicago Tribune calls “an ebullient holiday tradition.”

LES BALLETS DE MONTE-CARLO  LA BELLE | March 3-4, 2018

VIVID 2018: CCPA ANNUAL SHOWCASE | March 14, 2018

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Music Conservatory and 20th anniversary of the Theatre Conservatory, Roosevelt University’s VIVID 2018 features the CCPA Chamber Orchestra led by Andrew Grams and performing American music with renowned pianist and faculty member Winston Choi; and a Theatre Conservatory retrospective featuring song, dance and spoken word, accompanied by a CCPA jazz combo.

CCPA alumna Merle Dandridge, lead actor in the Oprah Winfrey Network hit drama series Greenleaf, will accept the first annual CCPA Distinguished Artist Award.

ICGA GREAT LAKES SEMIFINALS, PRESENTED BY VARSITY VOCALS | March 17, 2018

The Varsity Vocals International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) is the only global tournament that showcases the art of student a cappella singing. We are dedicated to providing top-notch collegiate a cappella groups with valuable feedback from our highly qualified judges, as well as the opportunity to perform in world-class venues across the country. Our young vocalists also have the opportunity to showcase their talent to an international audience and develop relationships with each other, cultivating the art of a cappella singing and a lifelong love of music.

Featuring the top ten groups in the Great Lakes region, the Semifinal event’s champion will move on to perform at the 2018 ICCA Finals in New York City in April.
