  • The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Elizabeth Doran, Executive Director) has announced that the best party in Pasadena annual fundraiser entitled PREMIERE GALA –DIAMONDS & DENIM will be held at The Pasadena Playhouse, on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

 

  • This year’s event will honor a great American theatre artist, Tena Clark, composer and lyricist of The Playhouse’s 2011 musical Twist, An American Musical. Our mistress of ceremony will be Debbie Allen, director and choreographer of Twist, and we will be enjoying a performance by rising Nashville star Elizabeth Lyons and Southern California’s country music chart-toppers Kelly Rae Band. The Playhouse Board of Directors, led by Chair David DiCristofaro and Gala Chairs Sheila Grether-Marion and Brett Stangeland, will be spearheading this red carpet gala event.

 

  • The event supports the artistry of The Pasadena Playhouse and the sharing of universal stories that nourish the soul.

 

  • Composer-lyricist of Twist, Tena Clark has been a long time partner and supporter of The Pasadena Playhouse.  The Debbie Allen directed and choreographed musical was one of the top five grossing musical in Playhouse history. The company she founded, DMI Music and Media Solutions, programs music for Air Force One, and Clark also recently produced the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin’s album. Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Jennifer Holliday, Gladys Knight, CeCe Winans, Dionne Warwick, Patti Austin, Stephanie Mills, Yolanda Adams and Rev. Shirley Caesar are also among the iconic recording artists for whom Clark has written and/or produced.  In 2009, Natalie Cole was honored with two GRAMMY Awards for Still Unforgettable, executive produced by Clark.
