The Palm Beach International Film Festival Announces Its Opening Night Film April 6 Will Be World Premiere of ‘MONEY’!

Palm Beach, Florida – March 8th, 2016 – The 21st Annual Palm Beach International Film Festival has said its opening night film held on April 6th, will be the world premiere of MONEY starring Kellan Lutz (Twilight, The Legend of Hercules), Jesse Williams (The Cabin in the Woods, Grey’s Anatomy, Lee Daniels’ The Butler), Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) and Jess Weixler (Teeth, The Good Wife).

MONEY is an American thriller film set in the Hamptons and produced by Atit Shah (Jekyll Island, An Act of War) at Create Entertainment in co-production with Spain. Director Martín Rosete was nominated for a Goya Award (Spain’s equivalent of the Oscar) in 2013 and many elements from the writer, editor, cinematographer and composer were from Spain where most aspects of post-production also took place.

“The authenticity of the filming is really amazing in its cinematography,” said Larry Richman, Executive Vice President & Director of Programming for The Palm Beaches Theatre/Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF).  “We look forward to sharing such a brilliant production with the Greater Palm Beach community.” Richman added.

Award-winning Spanish film director based in New York City, Martín Rosete is originally from Madrid, Spain. In addition to being nominated for the Goya’s, Rosete also won the Melies d’Or for his short film Voice Over which went to over 300 festivals and won over 100 awards. Rosette and Shah are “overjoyed to present Rosete’s feature debut, Money at PBIFF, to an audience we are sure will appreciate a unique thriller such as this especially given its Hamptons setting.”

“To have such an amazing cast attend our Opening Night is as exciting as handing us a million bucks as they’re worth every cent or peseta,” said Jeff Davis, Chairman and President of The Palm Beaches Theatre/Palm Beach International Film Festival.

“It’s what all our patron, film enthusiasts, media and sponsors always hope to see and we have them all coming,” he said.

“Our film-loving community truly enjoys the glamour and thrill of having celebrities in house.”

Martin Rosete is repped by Mike Esola at United Talent Agency (UTA) and managed by Underground. Shah is repped at UTA. Bamber is repped by Independent Talent Group, Paradigm and Alan Siegel Entertainment and Lutz by William Morris Endeavor and Zero Gravity Management. About Palm Beach International Film Festival
The Palm Beach International Film Festival is unlike any other film festival in America. It’s renowned for showing filmmakers and filmgoers a good time with parties and glittering special events. In 2015, over 120 films were screened, including 50 outstanding foreign films, representing 24 countries.
Last year nearly 80 features were presented, including 30 World, International, North American, and US Premieres. Over 60 filmmakers and actors chose to attend. Many made the trip here at their own expense from countries such as Canada, Israel, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Venezuela, to name just a few. In its second year, our popular sidebar “The Jewish Experience” featured 32 Jewish and Israeli-centric films, including 10 from Israel.
PBIFF has unique partnerships with two of the world’s leading film festivals. In a first-ever collaboration of its kind, the world-renowned Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) joined forces with us in 2014. In addition, our partnership with the Sundance Institute is a first for this esteemed organization.  Recently announced partnership with G-Star School of the Arts (http://www.GSTARSchool.org) provides PBIFF with additional space and technical facilities for screenings and production, as well as film educational outreach.
For the 21st PBIFF in 2016, a number of exciting changes and improvements are in store. The “New” Palm Beach International Film Festival, under new management, will be a destination for distributors and exhibitors to screen films and meet filmmakers, as PBIFF has formed a unique partnership with international and domestic distribution outlets, along with independent theater owners and film bookers from around the country.  The Palm Beaches Theatre, will be PBIFF’s new year-round home, which makes us unique among film festivals as not only do filmmakers have the opportunity to have their work shown at PBIFF but also get a theatrical run at commercial movie theaters, including our own.
PBIFF’s prizes include Jury Awards in four competition categories: Best Narrative Feature, Best Documentary Feature, Best Short Film and, new for 2016, Best Horror Feature. The audience selects the People’s Choice Award for Best Film. There is also a special award for Best Local Film. Winners receive an engraved glass plaque and cash prize.
The presence of filmmakers from around the world, along with patrons and press and cinemaphiles from throughout the region, help ensure PBIFF’s place as one of America’s top film festivals.
