Steven Reineke and The New York PopsThe New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, opens its 2015–2016 Carnegie Hall season on Friday, October 9 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with a program entitled My Favorite Things: The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The concert, celebrating the music of the creators of such classic Broadway musicals as Carousel, The King and I, and The Sound of Music, features guest artists Sierra Boggess (It Shoulda Been You, the forthcoming School of Rock) and Steven Pasquale (The Bridges of Madison County, Carousel at Chicago Lyric Opera), along with Essential Voices USA under the direction of Judith Clurman.

On Friday, November 13 at 8:00 p.m., The New York Pops and Steven Reineke continue their season when they are joined by Montego Glover (It Shoulda Been You, Memphis), Capathia Jenkins (Newsies), and soul singer Sy Smith for Sophisticated Ladies—a concert celebrating the music of Billie Holiday in the centennial year of her birth, as well as paying tribute to other groundbreaking icons of American popular song like Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Dinah Washington.

The New York Pops and Mr. Reineke return to Carnegie Hall in December for its annual holiday concerts. It’s Christmas Time in the City, on Friday, December 18 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 19 at 8:00 p.m., features Tony Award nominees Stephanie J. Block (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) and Brian d’Arcy James (Something Rotten!) alongside Essential Voices USA. The following afternoon, Sunday, December 20 at 3:00 p.m., The New York Pops and Maestro Reineke together with the New York Theatre Ballet, TADA! Youth Theater, and Essential Voices USA, are featured in a special holiday Carnegie Hall Family Concert, A Charlie Brown Christmas, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the iconic television special created by Charles M. Schulz.

In spring 2016, guest artists Jeremy Jordan (Finding Neverland, Newsies) and Betsy Wolfe (Bullets Over Broadway: The Musical) are featured in 42nd on 57th: Broadway Today, an evening of modern musical theater hits on Friday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m. The New York Pops and Mr. Reineke conclude their Carnegie Hall season on Friday, April 8 at 8:00 p.m., paying tribute to the collaborations between Academy Award winners Steven Spielberg and John Williams in Lights, Camera, Action: Spielberg and Williams.

About the Artists
Steven Reineke is the Music Director and Conductor of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Principal Pops Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Principal Pops Conductor Designate for the Houston Symphony, beginning in the 2017–2018 season. Mr. Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and has been on the podium with the Boston Pops, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia. His extensive North American conducting appearances include San Francisco, Houston, Seattle, Edmonton, and Pittsburgh. As the creator of more than one hundred orchestral arrangements for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Mr. Reineke’s work has been performed worldwide, and can be heard on numerous Cincinnati Pops Orchestra recordings on the Telarc label. His symphonic works Celebration Fanfare, Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and Casey at the Bat are performed frequently in North America. His numerous wind ensemble compositions are published by the C.L. Barnhouse Company and are performed by concert bands around the world. A native of Ohio, Mr. Reineke is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio, where he earned bachelor of music degrees with honors in both trumpet performance and music composition. He currently resides in New York City with his husband, Eric Gabbard.

The New York Pops is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States, and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. Under the leadership of dynamic Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, The New York Pops continues to re-imagine orchestral pops music. The orchestra performs an annual subscription series and birthday gala at Carnegie Hall. The New York Pops is dedicated to lifelong learning and collaborates with public schools, community organizations, children’s hospitals, and senior centers throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
