The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee Presents

“Peace, Politics, and Projectiles:

An Insider’s Look at the War in Gaza and Its Aftermath”

With Jerusalem Post Correspondent Gil Hoffman

November 3 • Temple Beth Sholom

Hoffman, a regular analyst on CNN, Al-Jazeera and other news outlets, will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the Israeli political arena.

The Heller Israel Advocacy Initiative, through The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee, presents Gil Hoffman, chief political correspondent and analyst for The Jerusalem Post, who will speak about the recent Gaza conflict and its aftermath, November 3, 7-8:30 p.m., at Temple Beth Sholom, 1050 S Tuttle Ave., Sarasota. The event is free and open to the public but reservations are required. For more information about this event, contact Len Steinberg at 941-552-6301 or [email protected]. To make a reservation, visit www.jfedsrq.org.

Hoffman’s presentation, “Peace, Politics, and Projectiles: An Insider’s Look at the War in Gaza and Its Aftermath,” offers the journalist’s unique insight on Operation Protective Edge—and how the world reacted to it.

“Over the summer, the rise in anti-Semitic violence in major cities around the world gave world Jewry reason to be concerned,” says Howard Tevlowitz, executive director of The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. “The vitriolic attack on Israel’s right to defend itself is all too familiar. During his presentation here, Hoffman will explore this and other topics related to Operation Protective Edge.”

Called “the most optimistic man in Israel,” Hoffman has interviewed every major figure across the Israeli political spectrum. He has also been interviewed by top media on six continents and is a regular analyst on CNN, Al-Jazeera and other news outlets. Hoffman’s prolific writings and TV appearances provide a behind-the-scenes look at the Israeli political arena.

Hoffman, who was raised in Chicago, graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University’s School of Journalism and wrote for the Miami Herald and The Arizona Republic before moving to Israel. A reserve soldier in the IDF’s Spokesperson Unit, he has lectured in seven countries and in 46 states in the United States. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife and two children.
