PLEIN AIR PAINTERS INVITED TO CELEBRATE FLORIDA LANDSCAPES AT
HISTORIC HERMITAGE ARTIST RETREAT
The Hermitage Artist Retreat and it’s partner the Englewood Art Center (EAC) invite painters to their annual Celebrate Florida Landscapes event on Thursday, November 6 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Bring art supplies and easels to the Hermitage campus that day to enjoy the beautiful Gulf front setting and paint in the open air. A variety of opportunities include historic buildings, Florida vegetation, birds, beach and gulf waters. The Hermitage is located at 6660 Manasota Key Road, Englewood, FL.
“We have been partnering with EAC for the past few years to give regional painters a chance to come out and enjoy painting on our old-Florida style campus,” remarked Bruce E. Rodgers, executive director of the Hermitage. “Ours is a unique environment, with architecture that is representative of another time. The historic renovations and preservation of our buildings, along with our plants, so beautifully maintained by our “Friends,” are wonderful subjects for inspiration.”
In addition to the invitation to paint at the Hermitage, a pop-up exhibit of local landscape and plein air artists will be on display. There will also be the opportunity to sketch and paint with demonstration artists from EAC. Artwork created on November 6th, may be entered for selection in two Celebrate Florida Landscapes exhibits to be held at the EAC in January and February 2015.
