SARASOTA COUNTY – The fishing pier at Centennial Park will be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of residents and visitors while a railing is replaced, Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources staff said Tuesday.

The closure will not affect use of the boat ramp at the park, 1059 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

County staff are working to address the issue with the City of Sarasota as part of an interlocal agreement for the operation and maintenance of the park. A temporary railing has been installed across the access to the boardwalk, and a barricade with caution tape has been put in place.

A reopening date has not yet been determined.
