New York, NY, February 26, 2016—The Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) present the US premiere of Cabaret de Magie Nouvelle by Cie 14:20, a France-based company on the cutting edge of new magic. The highly regarded company will make its US debut on March 4 and 5 at FIAF’s Florence Gould Hall, opening the inaugural Tilt Kids Festival, a new cultural festival for families.

Cabaret de Magie Nouvelle is a spellbinding, magical cabaret that merges shadow puppetry, circus, and magic tricks. It defies theatrical conventions and audience expectations. Cabaret de Magie Nouvelle is comprised of several acts, including: shadow-puppeteer Philippe Beau and pianist Madeleine Cazenave; award-winning magician Yann Frisch, who brings Baltass, a Kafkaesque world where magic, object handling and comical acting meet in a perfect composition; juggler Etienne Saglio; magician/jugglers Antoine Terrieux & Julien Mandier; and cellist Matthieu Saglio.

Under the leadership of Clément Debailleul and Raphaël Navarro, Cie 14:20 has created nearly 40 works including performances, installations and designs for theater. They’ve also collaborated with designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, choreographer Philippe Découflé, Cirque du Soleil, trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf, and artist JR.

On opening night, Friday, March 4, come early to help celebrate the launch of Tilt Kids Festival! From 5-7pm visit Ionna Vautrin’s installation Le bestiaire in the adjacent FIAF Gallery, make your own animal costumes, and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
