TEXAS RANGERS TRADE OUTFIELDER MICHAEL CHOICE TO CLEVELAND

FOR CASH CONSIDERATIONS

Choice was designated for assignment on August 18

Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has traded outfielder Michael Choice to the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations.

Choice, who had been on option at Triple-A Round Rock, was designated for assignment on August 18 to make room on the 40-man roster for outfielder Will Venable. Choice has been optioned by the Indians to Triple-A Columbus.

Choice was batting .244 with 12 homers and 60 RBI in 110 games at Round Rock this season. He was recalled by the Rangers on June 24 and went 0-for-1 that night versus Oakland before returning to Round Rock the following day in his only major league action. Acquired from Oakland in December 2013, Choice batted .182 in 86 games with Texas in 2014.

With today’s move, the Rangers’ major league roster remains at 39 players.
