Tuesday, May 19, 2015//Toronto – This summer, The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall is pleased to announce over 50 free events with its expanded Live on the Patio at Roy Thomson Hall series and Lunchtime Live! at Yonge-Dundas Square. In both cases, the Corporation continues its legacy of presenting high quality artists from across Canada and around the world – only this time outdoors and free for all to enjoy! The Corporation has also been invited to extend its partnership with Yonge-Dundas Square by curating the Indie Fridays series, presented by Virgin Mobile, and will screen Live at Massey Hall films each Tuesday evening as part of the City Cinema program. See the release from Yonge-Dundas Square here for more information on this exciting partnership.
The complete lineup of events presented in partnership with Yonge-Dundas Square run from May 18- October 12, 2015 and can be found at masseyhall.com
The free summer music series, Live on the Patio, returns to Roy Thomson Hall with an extra night of music each week and an even bigger patio. Starting at 5pm, patio lovers can enjoy food by Barque Smokehouse, drinks and live music at this after work retreat. This year’s series is once again sponsored by TD.
Tucked just under street-level at King and Simcoe, the newly expanded patio, overlooking the Roy Thomson Hall reflecting pond, will accommodate more than double the amount of patrons it did last year. The patio is accessible via the PATH on the concourse level, and is now accessible by a new access bridge on the North-West side of the building, connecting David Pecaut Square and Roy Thomson Hall.
Roy Thomson Hall partners up with friends from the Music community to program a different musical theme each week, including “Brazilian Fusion & Salsa” in association with Lula Music and Arts Centre to present Mar Aberto SoundSystem and Lula All Stars, “Urban Montreal” in association with Bonsound to present Random Recipe and Pierre Kwenders, “World Rock” in association with Hillside Festival to present Tamikrest and Hanggai, “Vintage Rock” in association with Classic Albums Live, and more. ABOUT THE CORPORATION OF MASSEY HALL AND ROY THOMSON HALL
