Starlite Players presents “Mind Games”

Four short comedies run May 19-22 in the Starlite Room

SARASOTA, FL: Just when you thought you had it all figured out, along comes Mind Games, four short comedies presented by Starlite Players to tease your mind while they tickle your funnybone according to Jo Morello, producing artistic director. The show runs on Thursday through Saturday, May 19-20-21, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the casual, intimate theater upstairs at The Starlite Room, 1001 Cocoanut Avenue.

The four comedies are:

“Cabin Pressure” by William H. Sikorski. Director: Mark Woodland. The plane has been boarded but cell phones are still in use. A man (Daniel Greene) seated between two women (Jenny Aldrich Walker, Samantha Centerbar) is a captive audience for their very private phone conversations.

“Weekly Visit” by Marvin Albert. Director: Bob Trisolini. Brian (Tyler Yurckonis) visits Mother Lambert (Jenny Aldrich Walker) in her assisted living facility, fearfully expecting a barrage of guilt–and she doesn’t disappoint. Can anyone’s life really be so sad and lonely? Really?

“Reverse Psychology” by George Freek. Director: Mark Woodland. “How badly do you want this job? Would you kill for it?” asks Charles (Steve Bikfalvy).  “Would you seduce my wife Susan (Alana Opie)?” Sara (Samantha Centerbar) coaches her fiancé Michael (Ren Pearson) for the all-important interview but the situation becomes ever more bizarre.

“The Company You Keep” by Nicole Cunningham. Director:  Bob Trisolini. Two mothers (Eve Caballero, Heather Forte) vie for presidency of the PTA while their daughters (Cassandra Maria Caballero, Vanessa Russo) compete for homecoming queen. Some people never outgrow their school days.

Starlite Players stages an evening of short, unpublished comedies for one weekend each month and has produced 33 plays since its debut in July 2015. Its focus is on theater professionals from the Tampa Bay area. Tickets at $17.50 include the four plays and a 15% discount on an optional pre- or post-show dinner at The Starlite Room.
