DANCE IN A PANIC is back at The Regent Theater, Los Angeles on Saturday April 30 with authentic British style monthly Rock N’ Roll dance parties. Organized by KAV and Los Angeles promoter Spaceland in conjunction with flight partner Norwegian, these are events where the boundaries between indie & alternative & live & electronic music become even more blurred & intertwined.

April 30 will see a special celebration for BritWeek’s 10th Anniversary. Dance In A Panic are working with Britweek to promote cultural ties between Britain & the USA to help build on the longstanding relationship between the US & UK music scenes.

Norwegian, the only long-haul low-cost airline flying between London and Los Angeles, will be supporting several Dance In A Panic partner events highlighting its role in sharing British arts and music culture with the United States. Norwegian offers more non-stop routes to Europe than any other foreign airline with nonstop flights to London, Paris, Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm. Flights from Los Angeles are operated on the modern, fuel-efficient Boeing 787, enabling Norwegian to offer customers not just a great price, but a superior traveling experience. Norwegian is proud to be the world’s fastest growing and most awarded long haul, low cost airline.

Each month internationally known guest artists & DJs hailing from the UK and Los Angeles will be a fixture at Dance In A Panic, filling the dance-floor with anthems from their record collections. Creating a British-style dance-party, club event in Los Angeles where everyone can dance till late, long beyond the standard show.

DANCE IN A PANIC RETURNS ON APRIL 30 WITH…

ANDY ROURKE (The Smiths)

For the sophomore Dance In A Panic event Andy Rourke from The Smiths will be DJing his mix of British Classics, rock n’ roll & electronic remixes. Andy recently launched his new project D.A.R.K with Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries) & New York songwriter/ producer Ole Koretsky. The album incorporates their love of electronica and new wave. An array of influences can be heard throughout the album, in particular artists including Angelo Badalamenti (‘The Moon’), The Cure, Depeche Mode, David Bowie. Listen to debut single “Curvy” here:
DEAP VALLY

Los Angeles garage rockers Deap Vally stand out as one of the hardest-rocking guitar-and-drum duos in the land. Their constant tours have seen them opening shows for Queens of the Stone Age, Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Peaches and Marilyn Manson. They recently released their brand new track “Royal Jelly” – a preview from their sophomore LP which was produced by Nick Zinner of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The video was directed by Jess Holzworth & starred Mick Jagger’s daughter Georgia Jagger with a cameo from Zinner. Watch the Video for Royal Jelly here:

LE BUTCHERETTES

The garage-punk Le Butcherettes are like the brilliant offspring of surrealist Luis Buñuel and intrepid rock icon PJ Harvey. Led by 25-year-old vocalist/guitarist/pianist Teri Gender Bender (a recent transplant to El Paso, TX from Guadalajara, Mexico), Le Butcherettes’ songs and wildly cathartic live shows have often drawn comparisons to Karen O, Patti Smith, Bikini Kill, and many other female-fronted rock groups, but there’s a theatricality to Le Butcherettes that brings a further reaching sense of mystery and imagery to the band.

This electric live show has led to extensive tours with legendary artists such as The Flaming Lips, The Mars Volta, Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Faith No More, The Dead Weather, Jane’s Addiction, The Deftones, Queens of the Stone Age, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Melvins, along with appearances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Corona Capital Festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and Sonar Festival.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (At The Drive In, The Mars Volta, Bosnian Rainbows) has produced all three Le Butcherettes full-length albums to date. You can hear guest appearances from Iggy Pop (“LA UVA”), Garbage’s Shirley Manson (“Shame, You’re All I’ve Got Left”), and Henry Rollins (“Moment of Guilt”) across the band’s discography. Le Butcherettes released their third full-length album, A Raw Youth, on Ipecac Recordings in the fall of 2015. They are currently on tour with At The Drive In and will continue to tour on this album through 2016 with new music in the works.

KAV

British, LA based solo artist KAV is the promoter & resident live act. He will be joined monthly by special guests from some of his favorite bands. KAV released his solo album “The Man With No Shadow” in August 2014. His music has been compared by the press with BRMC, Primal Scream, The Stooges & Kasabian. KAV played guitar for British band Happy Mondays touring internationally with them from 2004-07 (including a Coachella Festival performance in 07) & co-writing their latest album.

Music selections on the night come from Dan Mancini who is DJing the launch with his partner Lindsay Mancini under the moniker TSR Airlines. New Zealand born Dan Mancini was co-founder of Hollywood residency Columbia Room 116 with Tim Burgess (The Charlatans) and founder of Soundgasm with Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) & Jason Anchondo (The Warlocks).

Also hitting the decks will be TARA ROCKS resident DJ at KOKO club in london as part of Club NME. Tara has played regular DJ sets at Glastonbury Festival, Isle of Wight, Reading Festival & parties for Ray Ban, Aldo & TopShop. For several years she’s been running “West Rocks” club events at SXSW, CMJ, London & LA.

The founders of Dance In A Panic previously co-founded London club events “Getloaded” with London dance-club Turnmills in 2003 (home to the likes of The Chemical Brothers & Fat Boy Slim). Getloaded united the rock n’ roll & dance scenes & was hailed “One of the most successful club-nights in London to date” by The Guardian (UK). In summer 2004, KAV & Turnmills launched 20,000 capacity festival “Getloaded In The Park” on Clapham Common, which won “Best New Festival” at the UK festival awards in its first year & continued to run for 7 years.
