SOUTHWEST AIRLINES/TEXAS RANGERS FACES OF FREEDOM TRIP

TO WASHINGTON, D.C.

DEPARTURE FROM DALLAS LOVE FIELD ON TUESDAY MORNING

Arlington, Texas—In honor of Veterans Day, the Texas Rangers and Southwest Airlines will fly 15 military heroes and their guests on a two-day trip to Washington D.C. as part of the Faces of Freedom program TOMORROW, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11.

This year’s exceptional list of honorees represents all U.S. military branches and includes Purple Heart and Bronze Star awardees and veterans of the Vietnam War.  The trip, which is sponsored by the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Southwest Airlines, will allow veterans and their families the opportunity to see many of the famous monuments in the Nation’s Capital.

Veterans and their families will tour the National Mall to view the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War monuments once they arrive in Washington D.C on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday morning the group will tour the Capitol and then visit Arlington Cemetery before returning to Dallas later that night.

The Faces of Freedom program marks a partnership between the Texas Rangers and Southwest Airlines that was started in 2011 to honor local veterans. During the season Rangers fans were encouraged to nominate themselves or someone they knew who showed tremendous courage, strength and patriotism in their line of duty, past or present.  Military members selected as the monthly Faces of Freedom honorees received VIP access to a Texas Rangers baseball game and special on-field recognition, in addition to the trip to Washington D.C.
