SOUTH FLORIDA MUSEUM’S BOARD OF TRUSTEES ANNOUNCES NEW OFFICERS AND
RE-CONFIRMED TRUSTEES

 

The South Florida Museum’s Board of Trustees held officer and trustee elections on April 17, 2014. The Board of Trustees is comprised of members of the community who volunteer their time and expertise to the serve, as appointed, on Board committees and task groups. The Trustees participate in the decision-making process of the Museum and fulfill governance responsibilities to preserve the South Florida Museum values and principles. They fulfill the Museum Mission by seeking resources within the community to achieve goals, exercise legal and corporate responsibilities, develop and implement long-range fund development plans, ensure fiscal responsibility and provide for human resources. The Trustees are elected by current members of the Board. The Museum could not operate without their generous service.

Returning to the Board of Trustees for the term expiring in 2017 are Gary Bogart, COL James A. Fraley, Jr., Lynn Lineman, Dr. Michael Mackie, Christopher Peacock, Chris Pennewill, and Chris Romine. The Museum’s staff and Trustees thank three long-time supporters as they complete their terms of service as Trustees: Garret Barnes, Rae Dowling and Dr. Daniel Pope. The Museum’ s Board additionally includes mid-term Trustees: Jackie Barron, William Blalock, Tom Breiter, Hon. Larry Bustle, Rose Carlson, James D. Dye, Debbie Gigliotti, Jeffrey L. King, Jeanie Kirkpatrick, Ricki Lindsay, Eloise Lisch, Johncyna McRae, Steve Perry, Carol Rice, and Jim Toomey.

Board Officers for the 2014-2015 year are: Chairman and President – Tom Breiter, Vice President – Chris Romine, Vice President – Jeanie Kirkpatrick, Treasurer – Chris Pennewill, Secretary – Steve Perry. The Executive Committee for 2014-2015 is comprised of Bill Blalock, Tom Breiter, Jeffrey L. King, Jeanie Kirkpatrick, Lynn Lineman, Chris Pennewill, Steve Perry, and Chris Romine.

Museum CEO Brynne Anne Besio said of the Board, “For more than 66 years, the South Florida Museum has had a dedicated group of individuals from the community and the region working tirelessly to help staff and volunteers achieve the Museum’s mission. Their direction and governance has been invaluable. The current Board of Trustees continues the legacy of the Museum’s founders and previous decades of outstanding Board members in their passion and commitment to this organization. It is an exciting time to be at the Museum and in downtown Bradenton.”
