The MuseBox today announced that music blog AudioFemme.com will exclusively premiere “Aware, Alive, Awake the new single from sultry New York City pop singer Sariah. Sariah’s new EP Queen Of Hearts will be released on October 21st. With a Whitney Houston-inspired knack for writing infectious love songs, Sariah burst upon the national scene in 2013 when her debut single “Deep N Luv” climbed onto the Billboard Top 20 charts. Sariah teamed with Sam Tsui earlier this year to cover Pharrell’s “Happy,” resulting in 1.3 million views of the cover. The Young Presidents produced “Aware, Alive, Awake,” while Tsui and Ru Samath (Beyonce, Flo Rida, Ke$ha) produced the rest of Queen of Hearts. More information on Sariah is available on her official site.

Sariah has developed a reputation for writing uninhibited love songs that address all levels of intimacy. Case in point is “Deep N Luv.” Sariah realized that she wasn’t the only girl who could relate to its message. In fact, the song spoke to a whole generation of empowered girls, all unashamed to be untamed. It was a subject she tackled in her second track “All About Sex.” This single also hit the Billboard charts, inspiring her to continue to write, perform, and create her own band for more of an “unplugged” style.

According to music blog Edge on the Net, Sariah grew up in Massachusetts, where she began taking piano lessons at age five and vocal and dance lessons soon after. Whitney Houston was an early inspiration: “I was drawn to how Whitney blended tremendous vocal power with gut-wrenching soul. She was a true diva who sang from the heart and delivered in a way that made others feel it in theirs.”

Sariah left the Boston area for New York City at 18 when she decided to pursue a career in music while also attending college. In New York, she immersed herself in the club scene, danced hip-hop with a dance group, and wowed audiences with her vocals. She dubbed herself the “Queen of Hearts” and released her first EP, Lethal – all while working on her undergraduate degree.

Sariah is very clear about music’s role in her life, confirming that “music is where my heart is. I love the passion, the freedom to express one’s self, the sexiness, the mystery, and the excitement.” She is also direct and refreshingly ambitious when discussing her desired role on the modern pop stage: “I want to be the fire of nightlife, and I want my music to be its anthem.”
