Sarasota, FL (February 9, 2016) – The Sarasota Film Festival today unveiled its 2016 ad campaign poster and artwork created and completed by the Ringling College of Art & Design.

In October 2015 the Sarasota Film Festival and the Ringling College of Art and Design partnered to develop a new art concept and design to help market and brand the upcoming festival through The Collaboratory at Ringling College. Through this collaboration SFF commissioned two weekend-long brainstorming events for students to create several options from which SFF could select two students’ works to represent the 2016 Sarasota Film Festival.

Eight Ringling College of Art and Design students representing majors in illustration, BOAD, Game Art, and Ad Design met with SFF staff to collaborate on fresh new ideas, examine past SFF campaigns, and discuss the expectations for the future. The end result was the outstanding and creative work created by Gisselle Tirse and Nikelle Mackey, which will now be used for the 2016 Festival. Their designs will be seen on SFF banners on Main Street in Sarasota starting February 20th. They will also be seen on all major festival materials such as mailings, play bills, and sponsorship ads.

“The Sarasota Film Festival could not be more pleased with the result of our partnership with the Ringling College of Art and Design,” said Mark Famiglio, President of the Sarasota Film Festival. “This is a world-renowned art school and the students presented us with exemplary works to choose from. As we launch this year’s festival we are more excited than ever to bring the best in film to Sarasota.”

“We value the opportunity for our students to work with the Sarasota Film Festival,” said Dr. Larry R. Thompson, president of Ringling College of Art and Design. “Every year the festival brings filmmakers and their films from around the world as well as those made locally to eager film enthusiasts in our region. We are proud to have our students’ work featured as a core element of the festival’s identity and branding.”
