SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County is beefing up its Neighborhood Directory, a compilation of homeowners, condominium, civic and other incorporated associations. The directory enables the county to quickly and efficiently notify registered contacts about important public safety announcements, ongoing or upcoming infrastructure improvements, development proposals, stormwater projects, grant opportunities and special events.
Although the county estimates that there may be as many as 2,000 of these associations located within Sarasota County, approximately 200 are currently registered. Some registrants are from 2006 when the directory started, and some are believed to be duplicates.
This directory maps registered associations into the county’s GIS (Geographic Information Systems) program. Contacts can then receive regular neighborhood updates from the Office of Neighborhood Services and boundary-specific notices from other county departments in advance of projects that might impact their community.

To view the current Neighborhood Directory list and map, visit www.scgov.net/neighborhoodservices and select “Neighborhood Directory” from the menu on the left. You may also contact Neighborhood Services for assistance with registering or updating your association information.

To learn more, call the Sarasota County Contact Center at 941-861-5000 and ask about the Neighborhood Directory program, or visit www.scgov.net/NeighborhoodServices.
