San Bernardo Ice Cream Scooped Out enough to Fill a Swimming Pool
over the Hottest Summer on Record to South Florida Charities
Miramar Fla., September 20, 2016 –Newly named in the Inc. 5000 list of the fasted growing private companies in the USA, San Bernardo Ice Cream ( www.SanBernardoIceCream.com ) has been keeping South Florida cool all summer, scooping out their delicious flavors to charities and non-profits as those in need have struggled with the hottest summer on record.
The family owned company based in Miramar, Fla., has donated over 350,000 tasty scoops of ice cream to over a dozen food banks and soup kitchens concentrated in Broward County. Giving back to the community has always been something that San Bernardo Ice Cream has done in their 45 years of operating in South Florida.
“Personally, I have always been passionate about feeding people as a way to give back,” said Jonathan Tammara, President of San Bernardo Ice Cream.” We love the opportunity to bring people together and share a scoop, a laugh and a smile, even if it is just for an afternoon. Ice cream always manages to do just that, bring a smile on your face. It is hard to give a child a scoop of chocolate ice cream and not smile.”
As a small, but growing, business San Bernardo has always looked to community involvement and charity work to engage their staff and give back to the neighborhoods in which their employees live and work.
“We always know that summer is hot in Florida so one thing we decided we were going to do was give our ice cream to the feeding programs in our area.” Tammara went on to say. “We have found out since, that according to NASA, this has been the hottest summer on record, but early on, before we knew this, we had already made the commitment to donate this ice cream every week. We knew that ice cream is not something that gets donated to these organizations often. So whether it was a feeding center that got to serve it regularly or a church based organization that got it just one or two times at a family barbeque or community outreach, it was our way of giving back, our way of giving them something a little special and hopefully putting a smile on their faces in the process.
“I know it was well received from the feedback we got, there was a mom who told us that getting some of our ice cream put a smile on her son’s face like she had never seen. And there was another man who hadn’t had ice cream in 10 years! When you know that you have that kind of impact on people, to be able to give them something – that’s a smile – Ice cream and smiles go hand in hand and smiles are contagious. I wish we could do it every day all year.”
