RUSTON KELLY PARTNERS WITH CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND FOR THE RELEASE OF HIS NEW SINGLE, HURRICANE IN MY HEAD
DEBUT EP HALLOWEEN OUT JUNE 10th

Ruston Kelly is thrilled to announce the release of his debut EP Halloween, with the premiere of his first single “Hurricane In My Head” on Consequence Of Sound.
“[Hurricane In My Head] has a familiar country drive to it, but one that sparks of Ryan Adams’ alternative take on the genre,” says Consequence Of Sound. “Ripping harmonica solos cast out over a choppy river of clapping percussion glittering with sundown guitars. Kelly’s vocals lilt in a fashion that reinforces the Adams connection as he sings out for a caring lover.”
Ruston has been making a name for himself in the Nashville songwriters’ circuit, writing songs recorded by some of the biggest names in country. But its this collection of songs that make up his debut EP Halloween – moved by its immediate influences but reimagined, never dipping into imitation – that will establish Ruston as his own exciting performer who can write a sharp, thoughtful and infectious song.
Halloween – out June 10th – mashes together a wide range of styles including 70’s classic rock and folk. It’s a commanding sound, paired with Ruston’s whip-smart lyrics and knack for storytelling, that make up this convincing 6-song EP of meticulously crafted rock songs filled with ambition, ideas and passion.
“My goal was to arrive with a collection of recordings that reflected a view from many different windows of my world at a very specific time,” says Ruston. “I wanted to make a record that my closest friends would respect, and say ‘my dude, that’s fucking sweet. Let’s hit the road.'”
Ruston will announce a series of dates in the next few weeks. He’s already shared the stage with The Lumineers, The Oh Hellos and Robert Earl Keen, and has played Bonnaroo and Wakarusa.
Halloween – recorded with Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit, Jenny Lewis) – might mark the beginning of his career, but Ruston Kelly has been carving out his place in music history since he wrote his first song.
