REPOST NETWORK
–A LEADING MUSIC DISTRIBUTION AND LABEL SERVICES COMPANY–
MAKES AVAILABLE ITS “SPLIT PAY” FEATURE
PROVIDES FULL TRANSPARENCY
TO ARTISTS AND LABELS, FACILITATING PAYMENTS
IN A FAIR AND TIMELY MANNER

In three years, REPOST NETWORK–a leading music distribution and label services company focused exclusively on streaming–has become one of the fastest-growing music distributors, having paid out tens of millions of dollars to their 6,000 independent artists across 25+ platforms. The Los Angeles-based company (https://www.repostnetwork.com/) has now made available its “Split Pay” feature within its dashboard, making it one of the very few major distribution companies that offer automated payment splitting. *See artist quotes about REPOST below.

Accounting royalties to multiple stakeholders is incredibly time-consuming and wrought with human error,” says Jeff Ponchick, the company’s co-founder and CEO. “Split Pay through Repost is a game-changer as it provides full transparency to all payees and facilitates payments in a fair and timely manner. This allows artists and labels to focus more on what they do best, discovering and creating new music.” Ponchick made Forbes 2017 “30 Under 30: Music” list, while Joseph Mason, the company’s co-founder and CTO, appears on the 2018 list.
Split Pay allows REPOST artists–who include Slightly Stoopid, Waka Flocka Flame, Mayer Hawthorne and The Far East Movementto split their earnings with collaborators and other featured artists across the music stores available on the platform, all on a track-by-track basis. This means that the process of sharing revenue with label owners, promoters, or any other individuals involved in the release of new music is now possible with a click of a button. The stated mission of REPOST is “to enable musicians to make a living through their audience online and remain independent.” Ponchick says the company’s beginnings were inspired by SoundCloud. “Monetization was rolled out three years ago and I found that in order to monetize a given song with ads there was a significant amount of registration that needed to occur. This was possible for entities with large workforce driven companies such as labels and publishers, but independent artists weren’t able to access this. We set out first to solve this problem as what makes SoundCloud special is the independent content creators on the platform. We built this for them.” In fact, REPOST accounts for over 12% of SoundCloud’s U.S. earnings.
In elaborating about the company, Ponchick says, “Repost is a tech company in music and not a music company in music. We have gotten where we are not because of our industry relationships, but by solving real problems for artists who make money. Our ruthless product focus around support, distribution, accounting, and mostly marketing automation means artists who work with us retain full ownership of their music and get a better split than if they signed with a label, while simultaneously accessing an infrastructure in which they can grow and scale within.”
The REPOST platform allows artists to distribute their new music into platforms like Spotify and Apple Music and others as well as monetize their existing audiences on SoundCloud and YouTube. What sets REPOST apart from other distributors is that they see the space as not one size fits all. REPOST builds product, marketing, content protection, and service offerings around the nuances of each platform so that artists can get ahead. REPOST has one billion monthly views across YouTube, SoundCloud and Spotify.

ARTIST QUOTES

“The success of ‘Higher Ground’ gave me the awesome opportunity to perform with Odesza all over the world, and labels started approaching me. I wasn’t ready to sign a deal, but I was itching to start releasing my own music. It was daunting trying to focus on my project while I was so busy with Odesza, but my manager Gabe Saporta suggested we work with Repost to release independently through a T∆G Music x Repost partnership. The experience was effortless as Repost is so hands-on and we were able to get a bunch of strong first looks (New Music Friday, etc.), and start building the foundation for my project. Repost are always there for me and Gabe, and we’re stoked to work with them on my upcoming EP which will be out at the beginning of 2019.”

(singer-songwriter who tours with Odesza and who is the featured voice on their hit “Higher Ground”)

“I started distributing music with Repost earlier this year for the release of our song ‘Devils In The Canyon’ and my experience as an independent musician has been fantastic. They were able to get the song into over a dozen prominent Spotify playlists and provide support that was similar to having a record label involved.  I was also blown away by their new split-pay feature that allows me to streamline my accounting to multiple rights holders and creates a new way to leverage promotional and collaborative opportunities like I hadn’t had before. But almost more importantly, anytime I needed to get in touch with someone on their team or needed help with something, I could always get a quick response. Knowing there is someone on the other end is crucial.”
–Chris Crabb
(Lead Vocalist of popular indie, college party band The Strike)
