RANGERS RECALL INF JURICKSON PROFAR;

PLACE RHP SHAWN TOLLESON ON MAJOR LEAGUE FAMILY MEDICAL EMERGENCY LIST

Profar seeking first major league action since 2013

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has recalled infielder Jurickson Profar from Triple-A Round Rock.  The team has also placed right-handed pitcher Shawn Tolleson on the Major League Baseball Family Medical Emergency List.

Profar, 23, has spent the entire season with Round Rock, batting .284 (48-169) with 5 home runs and 26 RBI in 41 games.  He has hit .347 (17-49) with runners in scoring position with the Express.  The switch-hitter compiled a .302 (13-43) average against left-handed pitching, and a .278 (35-126) mark versus right-handers.  He has played shortstop for a majority of the season at Triple-A and began seeing action at second base on May 17.  He had a .353 (12-34) average over his final 8 games with the Express.

Profar was sidelined for two straight seasons in 2014-15 due to injury, including surgery on February 23, 2015 to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.  He had a brief injury rehabilitation assignment in the minor leagues last year and played in the Arizona Fall League, but last played for Texas in a regular season game on September 27, 2013 vs. Los Angeles-AL.  He has a career .231 average over 94 major league games, all with Texas in 2012-13.

Tolleson’s stay on the family medical emergency list can last a minimum of 3 days to a maximum of 7 days.  He has made 20 appearances for the Rangers this season.

Rougned Odor is scheduled to begin a 7-game stint on Major League Baseball’s Suspended List tonight.  The Rangers will have 24 active players during the duration of Odor’s suspension.

After today’s transactions, the Rangers’ major league roster remains at the 40-man limit.
