PRAIRIE FARMS SUMMER ZOO WEEKENDS AT THE SAINT LOUIS ZOO

KICKS OFF ON MAY 22

Go wild on the weekends at the Saint Louis Zoo!  On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays May 22 through September 7, the Zoo is open extended hours from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. for Prairie Farms Summer Zoo Weekends. Weekday summer hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The Zoo will close at 12 noon on Friday, June 19, for ZOOFARI 2015 presented by Wells Fargo Advisors, the Zoo’s biennial fundraiser.

Bring the whole family to “splish splash” with the stingrays, “cha-cha” with the cheetahs, and “frug” with the frogs at Jungle Boogie presented by Mid America Chevy Dealers. Enjoy free live music by local bands on Friday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. through Aug. 28 (no concerts on June 19 and July 3).

Enjoy a First Bank Sea Lion Show at Sea Lion Sound. The 2015 show has a fresh new look with a touch of “California Dreamin’,” thanks to a partnership with The Muny. Look for a new beach-style “surf shack” stage, props and script, more audience participation and fun music. The sea lion superstars will thrill you with flipper walks, ball balancing and lots of splashing! Throughout the show, trainers explain sea lion behavior and positive-reinforcement training, animal fun facts and the need for conserving the sea lions’ ocean habitat. Timed tickets are $4 per person; children under age 2 are free. Shows are at 10:30 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. daily in summer starting May 22, with an additional show at 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Stingrays and sharks have returned for a season long pool party at Stingrays at Caribbean Cove presented by Mercy Kids. Admission is $4 per person; children under age 2 are free. Zoo members at the Family Level and above may use their Anywhere Plus passes for admission. Admission is free the first hour the Zoo is open. Stingray feedings are $1 per cup.

Live animal shows at the Emerson Children’s Zoo include a variety of exotic and domestic animals showcasing natural behaviors on stage. Shows are at 10 and 11 a.m., 1 and 2 p.m. daily starting May 23, with an additional show at 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Keeper chats with live animals on stage are at 9 a.m., 12 noon and 3 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Admission to the Children’s Zoo is $4 per person with free admission the first hour the Zoo is open; children under age 2 are free.

Take a ride on the Emerson Zooline Railroad, which has been tracking smiles for more than 50 years! Tickets to ride are $5 per person for the 20-minute, 1.5-mile round trip. Children under age 2 are free.

Look for keeper chats at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. daily throughout the Zoo and animal enrichment and training activities at 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Admission to the Zoo and Jungle Boogie is free. There are fees for special attractions. Stingrays at Caribbean Cove, Children’s Zoo and Mary Ann Lee Conservation Carousel are free from 8 to 9 a.m. every day in summer. Admission charges apply after 9 a.m. for these attractions.
