PIP BLOM SHARES HER NEW SINGLE “HOURS”

SUPPORT FROM BBC RADIO 1 AND KCRW

UK 7″ OUT NOW VIA GRUNT GRUNT A GO GO
“Only 19 years old and sounds like a stripped back Courtney Barnett…” –
BBC Radio 1
“Scratchy and self-recorded, it’s an insight into a psyche that’s constantly searching for something more. Bound by her lo-fi restrictions, the Amsterdam native nevertheless manages to pluck slicker-than-your-average melodies out of her world of haze and fuzz, pitching them front and centre.” – DIY Mag

“The notions of the ticking clock are translated to infectious chords & drum loops that make for hypnotic trip where everything you have thought about the mystery of minutes, seconds, and more is displayed in dadaist like audio that almost accidentally becomes one of the danciest singles you have heard all week.” – Impose Magazine

19 year old Netherlands lo-fi rocker Pip Blom has released her new single “Hours” worldwide. The BBC Radio 1 approved track is a groovy, danceable slice of indie rock which brings to mind Courtney Barnett, Speedy Ortiz and even The Breeders.
As catchy as the music is, what really stands out are the incredibly mature and introspective lyrics which perfectly encapsulate the fear of losing the ones we love to time. As Pip Blom explains to Impose Magazine, “‘Hours’ is not really about the fact that I’m getting older. That doesn’t bother me yet, but it’s more about how every hour I get older it means people I love get older too. My parents, but especially my grandparents. “Hours” is essentially a song about loss. When time ticks away people grow old. And you know the moment you will lose them comes closer. You can’t do anything about it, but you know it will come.”

The track is available now backed with her other single “Truth”, which also has gotten some great support from KCRW, on an exclusive 7″ in the UK via Grunt Grunt A Go Go.
About
Pip Blom is a 19 year old artist from Amsterdam. DIY is in her genes. She writes, records and releases her own indie pop tunes with a twist. Although she only just started releasing her material in 2016, her rough diamonds with catchy melodies have already found their way to an international audience. The songs have been featured in influential Spotify playlists as New Music Friday, Fresh Finds and Absolute Alternative. With already more than 200,000 plays on Spotify, Pip is on a roll!

Yes, she writes and records everything her self and on her own, but she brings her songs to life as a 4 piece band. Three other Amsterdam youngsters, Tender Blom, Bowie Thörig and Berend Kok accompany her on stage. Pip is going to play a lot. Tours in the Netherlands and England are scheduled, more countries hopefully to follow.

On the 1st of July, two of Pip’s songs, Hours and Truth will be released on a limited edition 7″ single on the Norwich based Grunt Grunt A Go Go label.

By the way, there was music by Pip before. Phase 1 of Pip’s career started when she was 15 years old. She learned to make music on a 3 string Loog guitar, a big crowdfunding success. In a month she wrote 13 songs, each 1 minute long, recorded them and released them under the name Short Stories. Of course, she grew up musically since then, but you can hear her feel for melody in those early songs. With the album, Pip ended up on the front page of worldwide popular tech website TechCrunch when they wrote about the success of Loog in teaching youngsters master the guitar.
