What is Super Strings?
Super Strings is a group of violinists between the ages of 8-18 from Sarasota and Manatee counties and around Florida who come together as a group to play a select musical composition with the PMP String Orchestra under the direction of internationally acclaimed violinist and conductor,

Itzhak Perlman! Preparatory workshops with local music instructors are held to support participants. This will be the third time this special project is presented as part of The Perlman Music Program Sarasota Winter Residency.

Who can apply?

Young violinists age 8-18 from Sarasota and Manatee counties can apply, with limited participation offered to qualifying out-of-county Florida residents. Students who have submitted complete applications by the deadline will be offered an audition to perform – from memory – the following composition: Vivaldi Concerto in A minor for Two Violins, RV522. Op. 3 No. 8 “L’estro Armonico,” movement 1. Students will memorize and perform either the Tutti and Solo lines for Violin 1 or the Tutti and Solo lines for Violin 2.

Manatee County and Sarasota County students may participate free of charge thanks to generous underwriting provided by Eugene F. and Elizabeth Hull Fund of the Manatee Community Foundation and funds from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. Out-of-county Florida residents may participate for $150 per student. Limited scholarships available.
