PASADENA SYMPHONY AND POPS PRESENT A MAGNIFICENT EVENING

AT CENTENNIAL SQUARE FOR ANNUAL MOONLIGHT SONATA GALA

 

Pasadena, CA  – The Pasadena Symphony Association will host their annual Moonlight Sonata Gala on Saturday, September 23, 2017, which promises to be an unforgettable night filled with entertainment, music and dancing held at Pasadena’s historic City Hall.

Music Director David Lockington will host the evening as guests enjoy dinner and live music under the starry night sky in Centennial Square, and distinctive to this year’s Gala, will be the lively dancing that will close out the night. The magical evening will start off with libations in the cloistered courtyard. As dinner begins, members of the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra will serenade guests along their walk to in Centennial Square, where. Claud & Co will provide a curated four-course meal.The program will also feature an exciting live and silent auction filled with alluring items along with an awards ceremony honoring three prominent community figures. To top off the elegant affair, guests will dance the night away to Tony Galla and the Usual Suspects,  a six-piece band who will be performing songs from the Great American Songbook.

If a musical experience weaving throughout the evening is not magical enough, then be prepared to be amazed by guest illusionist David Kwong. A featured TED speaker, Kwong recently published his book, Spellbound: Seven Principles to Illusion to Captivate Audiences and Unlock the Secrests of Success and has acted as magic consultant for hit-movies Now You See Me, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, and many others. “The magician and word game expert has become Hollywood’s go-to guy for tricks” (Wall Street Journal).

The Pasadena Symphony Association is thrilled to honor three Moonlight Sonata luminaries. This year’s Community Luminary is the Women’s Committee of the Pasadena Symphony Association, a dedicated group of volunteers who celebrate and support the musicians of the Pasadena Symphony Association through the Holiday Look In, an annual fundraising event celebrating its 50th year. Northern Trust will be acknowledged as Corporate Luminary for their generous charitable contributions to the arts, which have encouraged the Pasadena Symphony and POPS to flourish as the region’s premiere source for live symphonic music; Philanthropist Luminary Margaret H. Sedenquist will be recognized for her long, charitable history with the Pasadena Symphony Association and the greater Pasadena community.

Founded in 1957, the Women’s Committee of the Pasadena Symphony Association is a dedicated group of volunteers who celebrate and support the musicians of the Pasadena Symphony Association through the annual Holiday Look In. ABOUT MARGARET H. SEDENQUIST

Margaret H. Sedenquist serves as president of Mohawk Management Corporation in Pasadena, California and was formerly president of Sedenquist-Fraser Enterprises, Inc., which owned and operated a plastics factory. Sedenquist founded Commercial Pacific Bank in Santa Cruz, California, where she served as board chair. She has served on the board of trustees of the University of La Verne since 2010.

Sedenquist has served as Board President of the Pasadena POPS Orchestra, and is currently on the board of the Pasadena Symphony Association. Sedenquist has also served on the board of the Pasadena YWCA, Pasadena Chamber Orchestra, the Institute for Religion and Wholeness at the Claremont School of Theology, Pasadena Playhouse and the Arcadia Methodist Hospital Foundation. She served on the City of Pasadena’s Finance Committee, the Endowment Advisory Committee, and as chair of the City Hall Restoration Finance Committee.

In her capacity as a real estate developer and broker, Sedenquist served as president of the Pasadena Association of Realtors, the Society of Exchange Counselors, and the Los Angeles County Boards of Real Estate. She also served on the board of directors of the California Association of Realtors. In 2011, the Women’s Civic League named Sedenquist as the Woman of the Year.
